I was nervous as I walked into my first Reiki Clinic with Tia; I could feel my shoulders tensing up around my ears. My thoughts were on autopilot, over-analyzing the fact that Reiki is something that was completely foreign to me. I knew I had the potential to be an emotional or physical mess on any given day, but what if I was an energetic mess too?! The community approach to healing was not foreign to me, however, the feeling that the community room at the All Life Center instilled in me was. Each brown recliner chair was complemented by light-colored blankets laying across the arms of the chairs, the room was dark enough to bring my thoughts into focus, and my nerves to rest. Tia is as warm and inviting as the atmosphere of the room. She listened non-judgmentally to my physical and emotional ailments, and explained how she was going to “check in” energetically. Tia spent a lot of time working on my neck, she said this can be very emotional, and I was absolutely allowed to cry. Suddenly, this intense emotional heaviness flooded through me, never in my life had I felt so compelled to cry; I was blown away. I left feeling lighter and happier. Since then, Tia has made this a place where I can share my thoughts and feelings. As a teacher, she listens and works with a genuine kindness and understanding that is imperative to healing.
Tia Shares her Journey to Community Reiki:
The All Life Community is where I found a new kind of home. One that inspired the courage and ideas needed to take the leap to begin my business; Creative Zen by Tia. One where I could let my creativity and my passion for mind-body healing merge together.
I began by selling handcrafted jewelry and seeing clients for Reiki sessions. Next, I delighted in the process of teaching Reiki to incredible, gifted students. I have plans for workshops on Self-Care, Stress Relief, EFT/Tapping, Jewelry Making, Meditation, and Reiki. My creative imagination has been unleashed, and my passion to help others is at full force.
Through all this, a beautiful idea formed: to open a Community Reiki and Relaxation Clinic.
Reiki is a form of energy work, based on a Japanese technique, where hands are gently rested on or above a person. As with most energy-based treatment modalities, Reiki helps move energy through your body. (This is similar to work with meridians, chakras, and chi). It helps release stuck/blocked energy, replenish with supportive Reiki energy, and promote your body’s natural healing capacity. Part of this happens through deep relaxation. As you shut off the stress response, your body has a much greater capacity for resilience and healing. Your resources no longer have to go predominantly toward responding to stress, and toward fight or flight responses; your body’s resources can instead go to where they are needed.
And for many, like myself, Reiki can be part of your spiritual practice. If that’s not your thing, that’s okay too! You don’t need to work through the philosophy of Reiki to experience its amazing benefits.
So what is “community” Reiki?
Community Reiki means that services are offered in a group setting – this provides the quiet comfort of community, supportive energy of a group, and access to affordable services.
This Clinic finds inspiration from the Community Acupuncture movement, my working class roots, and my passion for integrative healing. There are so many amazing ways to support a person through illness, through maintaining good health, and through the crazy journeys of life. But access and affordability are often barriers to getting this support. Community-style services changes that. With a sliding scale of $20-$40, there is room to factor in budgets and frequency of visits. There is also a “Pay It Forward” program, where anyone can buy a $20 treatment for someone else. These gift cards will be waiting at the Clinic for when someone needs a treatment, but $20 feels out of reach. I’ve certainly been there, and some amazing people helped me through those times. Likewise, I hope this Pay It Forward program can help others in those tight spots.
My hope is to give people a place to relax, replenish, and receive support along their journeys. Stop by for 45 minutes or stay for the whole 4 hours of the Clinic. Everyone needs a place where they can feel supported and safe to take steps toward well-being.
Here is how it works: Simply drop in to the Clinic on Wednesdays or Saturdays between 3-7pm. Pick a Guided Imagery/Meditation program that feels supportive to you, then ease into a comfy recliner. As you listen to these gentle, yet powerful guided imagery programs, I will offer Reiki and essential oils to deepen your relaxation.
I am delighted to offer the programs of Belleruth Naparstek, one of my personal & professional heroes, along with several other gifted practitioners from Health Journeys. Choose from over 25 programs for healthy immune system, support through cancer treatments, self-compassion, pain relief, relaxation, and so many more.
The Community Reiki and Relaxation Clinic is set in the beautiful All Life Center, where you can find inspiration and serenity everywhere you look. Just as ALC brings a new sense of home and community to me, I hope it can for you as well. Stop by and enjoy it with me.
